The short answer

The Upform MCP server lives at https://mcp.upform.com. Add it as a custom connector in Claude (Settings, then Connectors), as a connector in ChatGPT, or as a remote MCP server in Claude Code or Cursor. The first time you use it you sign in to Upform and click Allow. From then on you can ask things like "create a customer feedback form with a 1 to 5 rating" or "summarize the responses to my latest form", and the assistant does it in your account. There are no API keys to copy and no passwords to share.

How it works

Connect Upform to Claude in five steps

MCP (Model Context Protocol) is the open standard AI assistants use to talk to other apps. Upform runs a remote MCP server, so there is nothing to install: you give the assistant the address and approve it once.

  1. Open the connectors settings

In claude.ai or the Claude desktop app, go to Settings, then Connectors, and click "Add custom connector". On a Claude Team or Enterprise plan, a workspace owner may need to add the connector first.

  2. Name it and paste the URL

Name the connector Upform and paste https://mcp.upform.com as the URL. The address is the same for everyone, because the sign-in step decides whose forms the assistant can reach.

  3. Click Add, then Connect

Claude opens the Upform sign-in page. Log in with the account that owns your forms, the same one you use at app.upform.com.

  4. Click Allow

Upform asks you to approve the connection. That approval is what lets the assistant act for you, and you can revoke it again at any time.

  5. Turn it on in a chat and ask

In a new chat, switch Upform on from the tools menu and ask something like "Show me my Upform forms". The assistant lists them and you take it from there.

What you can ask

Four requests that used to take ten minutes of clicking

The assistant works on the same forms you see in the dashboard. Whatever it builds opens in the builder afterwards, ready to restyle, and whatever it reads comes from the same responses table.

Build a form with logic

"Create a customer feedback form with a 1 to 5 rating and show a follow-up question if the rating is below 3." The assistant picks the question types, writes the questions and sets the conditional logic rule, then you open the form in the builder to check the wording and the theme.

Read and summarize responses

"Show me all responses to my latest form and summarize the most common complaints." Instead of exporting a CSV and reading forty rows, you get the themes, with the answers behind them one question away. The full table is still in Upform when you want to check a single response.

Check how a form is doing

"How is my registration form performing? Show views, completion rate and average time." The numbers come from the same form analytics as the Results tab, so the answer in the chat and the dashboard never disagree.

Edit and publish

"Add a phone number question after the email question and publish the form." Small edits stop being a context switch: you ask while you are already writing the email that will carry the link, and the published form is updated in place.

Setup by app

Where the URL goes in each AI assistant

The server address never changes. What changes is where each app keeps its connectors. The Connect panel in Upform shows the same steps for each one.

AssistantWhere to add itHow you sign in
Claudeclaude.ai or the desktop app: Settings, Connectors, Add custom connector. Name Upform, URL https://mcp.upform.com.Click Connect, sign in to Upform, click Allow

Menus in AI apps move often. If a step above has changed, the Connect panel in your Upform account carries the current instructions for each assistant, under the same five tabs.

Security

The assistant gets your access, and nothing more

Connecting an AI to your forms should not mean handing it a master key. Three rules hold for every request the assistant makes.

Your own sign-in

You log in with your Upform account and approve the connection. No API key is created, copied or stored in a chat, and no password ever passes through the assistant.

Only your forms

The assistant sees the forms you own and the ones shared with you through team access. Somebody else using the same URL sees their own forms, never yours.

Deletes need a yes

Removing a form always asks for your confirmation in the chat first. A misread instruction cannot quietly take a live form, and its responses, offline.

Prefer clicks for the design

The assistant is fast at structure: questions, types, order and logic. Colours, fonts and the logo are quicker to judge by eye, so finish those in the builder's Design panel, where the themes and branding preview live. Sending responses on to other tools still runs through the Google Sheets, Slack and webhook integrations on the same form.

Beyond the chat

Where the responses go next

The MCP server is how you talk to your forms. The integrations are how the responses reach the rest of your stack, automatically, on every submit.

Every destination connects with your own account. The full list lives in the integrations directory.

Frequently asked questions

What is an MCP server?

MCP stands for Model Context Protocol, an open standard that lets AI assistants such as Claude and ChatGPT use tools in other apps. An MCP server is the app's side of that conversation. Upform's server lets an assistant list your forms, build and edit them, publish them and read their responses and analytics, all inside your own account.

Which AI assistants work with Upform?

Claude (claude.ai and the desktop app), ChatGPT, Claude Code and Cursor all have setup steps in the Upform Connect panel. Any other client that supports remote MCP servers with an OAuth sign-in can use the same URL, https://mcp.upform.com.

Do I need an API key?

No. You sign in with your Upform account when you connect and click Allow. There is no key to generate, copy into a settings file or keep secret, and nothing to rotate if a laptop goes missing: you revoke the connection instead.

Can the assistant see other people's forms?

No. The URL is the same for everyone, but every request runs as the account that signed in. The assistant can reach the forms you own and the forms a teammate has shared with you, and nothing else.

Can the AI delete my forms by mistake?

Deleting a form always asks for your confirmation in the chat before anything happens. Creating, editing and publishing do not need a second step, and every change shows up in the builder, where you can review it like any edit you made yourself.

Is there a Typeform MCP server?

Typeform and other form builders have their own approaches to AI, and some rely on community-built MCP servers that need an API token. Upform's server is official, hosted at one URL and uses your normal sign-in. If you are weighing the two products, the Typeform alternative page compares plans and features side by side.
