A Fillout alternative with unlimited responses on the free plan

Fillout's free plan is capped at 1,000 responses a month. Upform's is not capped at all: unlimited forms, unlimited responses, all 21 question types and 20 logic operators, for $0.

Free forever, not a trial and nothing to cancel. Pro is $12/month when you want the Upform mark gone.

The short answer

Upform vs Fillout, in 60 words

Upform is a free Fillout alternative. Both give you logic and native integrations at no cost, so this is not the usual free-plan story. The difference is volume and scope: Fillout meters the free tier at 1,000 responses a month and spans payments, scheduling and a large app catalog. Upform does conversational forms only, with no response cap and $12 Pro.

Upform vs Fillout, feature by feature

Fillout is a serious tool and its free plan is one of the better ones on the market. This table is written to help you pick, not to win an argument.

The three reasons

Why people search for a Fillout alternative

Almost nobody leaves Fillout because the product is bad. They leave because of the counter, the surface area or the shape of the form.

The month still has a ceiling

A thousand responses feels generous until a campaign lands, a post travels or a support form gets busy. Then the counter runs out mid-month and the answers you miss are the ones you were waiting for. Upform does not count.

You bought a suite for one job

Payments, scheduling, approvals, document generation, a connector directory. All useful, none of it free, and most of it shelf space if what you needed was a good-looking form that lands in Google Sheets.

You want the conversational shape

Fillout can do one question per page. Upform is built for nothing else, so the transitions, the keyboard shortcuts and the mobile bar are the default rather than a setting. See how conversational forms behave.

Being straight with you

What Fillout does better

Fillout is the closest competitor on this list and it is genuinely ahead in four places. If any of them is your requirement, stay where you are.

A much deeper integrations catalog

Fillout's directory runs far past Upform's nine destinations, and its database-first mapping into tools like Airtable is the reason a lot of teams pick it. Upform covers Sheets, Slack, Notion, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, monday.com, n8n and custom webhooks. That is most stacks, but it is nine.

Payment and scheduling blocks

You can take a card or let someone book a slot without leaving a Fillout form. Upform has neither, and Calendly sits on the roadmap rather than in the product. For a paid workshop signup or a sales call booking, that gap is the whole decision.

A more mature API

Fillout has a documented API for reading forms and responses programmatically. Upform pushes data out through integrations and webhooks, including a signed n8n webhook, but there is no public API to call today.

More form shapes and more maths

Classic multi-field pages, quizzes with scoring, calculated fields. Upform's logic routes people through a form; it does not compute a number at the end. If you need a price calculator or a graded quiz, Fillout does it and Upform does not.

The free plan

Nothing on the Upform free plan is metered

There is no response counter, no form counter and no feature sitting behind an upgrade prompt. The whole builder is in front of you on day one, and it stays there.

  • Unlimited forms and unlimited responses, with no monthly reset to plan around
  • All 21 question types, from phone numbers with dial codes to picture choice and file uploads
  • Conditional logic: 20 operators, AND/OR groups, and show, hide, jump or end as the action
  • Every integration, each connected with your own account through OAuth
  • Analytics with a per-question drop-off funnel, not just a submission count

Where the answers land

Nine destinations, none of them behind a plan

Fewer than Fillout's catalog, and every one of them works on the free plan with your own account connected through OAuth.

Migration

Moving a Fillout form across, in four steps

There is no importer between the two tools. It matters less than it sounds: the field types line up almost one to one, so a ten-question form is usually rebuilt inside twenty minutes.

  1. Export the responses you already have

Download your Fillout submissions before you switch anything off. Answer history is yours and should not depend on a subscription staying active.

  2. Rebuild the questions

Start blank or clone a template, then paste your question text across and set each type. Short text, long text, email, phone, address, rating, star rating, slider, picture choice, dropdown, file upload, statement and thank-you all have a direct equivalent among the 21 types.

  3. Recreate the rules and the branding

Open the Logic panel and rebuild each rule as an AND or OR group with one of the four actions. Then set your logo, colors, Google font, corner radius and progress style in Design, and save it as a reusable theme.

  4. Reconnect and swap the link

Authorize the integrations you were using, publish, then replace the old URL wherever it lives: site, email signature, QR code. The embed snippet keeps your own domain in the address bar.

Fit check

Who should switch, and who should not

Two minutes here saves you an afternoon of rebuilding a form in the wrong tool.

Upform is the better fit if

  • You clear 1,000 responses in a busy month, or you would rather never think about it
  • You want the one-question-per-screen format as the default, not a layout option
  • Sheets, Slack, Notion, HubSpot or a webhook already covers where your data needs to go
  • You are a freelancer, small team, nonprofit or side project with no software budget
  • You came from Typeform first and want the same feel. See the Typeform alternative page

Stay on Fillout if

  • You take payments or bookings inside the form
  • Your form writes into a database like Airtable with detailed field mapping
  • You need scoring, quiz grading or calculated fields. Upform's logic routes, it does not compute
  • You drive forms from your own code through an API rather than clicking in a builder
  • More than five people need their own seat, or you need a form on a custom domain today

Frequently asked questions

Is Fillout free?

Fillout has a free plan, and it is a generous one: unlimited forms, a wide field library, conditional logic and native integrations. The limit is volume. At the time of writing the free tier is capped at 1,000 responses a month. Upform's free plan has no response cap at all.

What is the best free Fillout alternative?

If the monthly response cap is why you are here, Upform. Its free plan is permanent rather than a trial and carries unlimited forms, unlimited responses, all 21 question types, 20 logic operators and every integration. Pro costs $12 a month and only adds unlimited file storage, branding removal and five team seats.

Does Upform do payments and scheduling like Fillout?

No. Fillout has payment and scheduling blocks you drop straight into a form; Upform has neither, and Calendly is on the roadmap rather than shipped. If you need to take a card or book a slot inside the form itself, Fillout is the better tool for that job.

Can I import my Fillout form into Upform?

Not automatically. Upform's only importer is a one-way import from Google Forms, so a Fillout form is rebuilt by hand. Most take ten to twenty minutes because the field types line up closely: paste the question text across, set each type, then recreate your rules in the Logic panel.

How does Upform's conditional logic compare to Fillout's?

Upform gives you a flat list of rules, each an AND or OR group of conditions, with 20 operators covering text, numbers, dates, choices and uploads, and four actions: show, hide, jump and end the form. It routes people. It does not score or calculate, and Fillout's logic goes further on that front.

Does Upform have an API?

Not today. Responses reach your stack through nine native integrations plus custom webhooks, including an n8n webhook signed with an HMAC-SHA256 X-Upform-Signature header so you can verify it without storing n8n credentials. If you need to read and write forms programmatically, Fillout's API is the more mature option.

Is Upform cheaper than Fillout?

Upform's free plan costs $0 with no response cap, and Pro is $12 a month, a launch offer at half the $24 list price. Fillout's paid tiers start at around $15 a month and climb from there. Both sets of plans change, so check each pricing page before you commit.
