The problem

The form-builder market runs on one bargain

The tools that look good meter what you collect. Conversational flow, one question per screen, real typography, your logo at the top. And then a counter in the corner. Typeform's free plan is widely reported to stop at ten responses a month, which means a form can be doing its job beautifully at 9am and be a dead link by lunch. We wrote up how those tiers work in Typeform pricing explained, and the short version is that you are not paying for features, you are paying for permission to keep listening.

The tools that do not meter you look like a spreadsheet with a submit button. Google Forms will take unlimited responses and charge nothing, and you can see the price in the product: stacked radio buttons on one long page, almost no branding, no sense that a person is on the other side. The cost moved from your invoice to your completion rate, where it is harder to notice and more expensive.

So the choice on offer is a form people finish, or a form you can afford. We do not think that is a real constraint. Showing one question at a time is not more expensive to run than showing forty at once, and a conditional rule is a few hundred bytes of JSON. We put both halves on the free plan and drew the paid line somewhere defensible instead: file storage, branding removal and teammates. That is the whole difference between Free and Pro.

What we decided

Four decisions you can see in the product

Not values, not a mission. Four things we chose, each of which is checkable in an account you can open in the next two minutes.

Unlimited responses belong on the free plan

Unlimited forms and unlimited responses, forever, with no card at signup. A response counter is the one limit that punishes you exactly when something is working, and we would rather lose the upgrade than break a live form. The free plan also carries all 21 question types, so nothing you build on it is a demo.

One question per screen, by default

A published Upform asks one thing at a time, holds a short branded loading overlay so your logo and font are in place before the first question paints, and answers to the keyboard: Enter to continue, Shift+Enter for a newline, 1-9 and A-Z for choices, Y and N for yes-no. On a phone it drops to full-width targets and a sticky back and next bar.

How conversational forms work

Your answers go where you already work

Every integration is on the free plan and every one connects your own account by OAuth, so responses land in your Google Sheet, your Slack channel, your Notion database, your HubSpot or Klaviyo list. Nothing is held hostage in our dashboard, and there is a CSV export on the responses table for the cases nobody planned for.

See every integration

No dark patterns on the free plan

The free plan states its three limits up front: 100 MB of file storage, Upform branding on your forms, and no team members. Everything else, like conditional logic with 20 operators, analytics, file uploads, templates and embeds, is simply included. Nothing unlocks halfway through building, and no feature appears grayed out to sell you something.

What we won't do

Commitments that cost us money

A principle is only worth writing down if breaking it would be profitable. These four would be.

  • No response cap as a growth lever. We will not introduce a monthly response ceiling on the free plan, and we will not retro-fit one to accounts that signed up without it.
  • No feature-gating conditional logic. Show, hide, jump and end form, with all 20 operators, stay on the free plan. Logic is what makes a long form short, and a short form is the whole point.
  • No upgrade wall inside someone's form. Your respondent never meets our pricing. A published form that hits a plan boundary keeps collecting; we take it up with you, not with the person answering.
  • No selling or mining response data. Your responses are yours. Every table is protected by row-level security, uploads are scoped to their own form, and forms stay private until you publish them.

How we compare ourselves

Our rules for writing about competitors

We publish a lot of comparison pages, and a comparison page is only useful if you can tell it is not lying to you. Three rules, applied to every table on this site.

  1. Public sources only

Every number comes from the competitor's own pricing or feature page, not from a support thread, a review site or a rumor. If a figure is not published, we say the vendor does not publish it rather than guessing.

  2. A checked date on every table

Each comparison carries the month and year we last verified it, and a line telling you to check for yourself before you decide. Pricing changes faster than marketing pages get updated, including ours.

  3. We name what they do better

Typeform's craft and question library are genuinely ahead. Google Forms is unbeatable if you live in Google Workspace and want zero setup. A page that finds nothing good in the alternative is an advertisement wearing a table's clothes.

Where we are going

The parts that are not finished

Roadmaps age badly, so this one only lists things we are actually working on, labeled honestly. Everything that has already shipped is in what's new.

Manual today

Online checkout

Pro upgrades are an email to hello@upform.com right now. We set the account up by hand and reply the same day. Self-serve card checkout is the next thing we ship.

On the roadmap

Calendly question type

Booking a time inside a form, instead of sending someone to a second link after they finish. Designed, not built. It is not in the product today.

On the roadmap

Excel Online

A Microsoft-side counterpart to the Google Sheets integration, so responses append to a workbook you already share. Planned, not shipped.

Connection only

Google Analytics events

You can connect a Google Analytics property today. That is tracking setup, not dispatch. Sending form events into it is still on our list.

Tell us where we are wrong

If a number on this site is stale, a comparison is unfair, or something in the product does not behave the way this page says it does, we want the correction more than we want the impression. Write to hello@upform.com or use the contact form (which is, unsurprisingly, an Upform).

Frequently asked questions

Who is behind Upform?

Upform is an independent product, not a platform built around seat expansion. We do not publish headcount, funding or a logo wall on this page, because none of it tells you whether the product will still be collecting your responses next month. What we publish instead is the complete feature list, the exact price of both plans, and the roadmap items that are not built yet.

Is the Upform free plan really free, or is it a trial?

It is free forever, not a trial, and there is no card required to start. The free plan includes unlimited forms, unlimited responses, all 21 question types, conditional logic with 20 operators, every integration and 100 MB of file storage. The three things it does not include are unlimited file storage, branding removal and team members.

How does Upform make money if responses are unlimited?

Pro costs $12 a month, a launch price that is 50% off the $24 list price, and it adds unlimited file storage, removal of Upform branding, up to 5 team members and early access to features we are still finishing. Online checkout is not live yet, so a Pro upgrade is an email to hello@upform.com with the subject Upform Pro upgrade request. We set the account up by hand and reply the same day.

How do you keep your comparison pages fair?

We only cite figures that appear on a competitor's own public pricing or feature page, and every comparison table on this site carries the month and year we last checked it. We also name what the other tool genuinely does better, because a comparison that finds nothing good about the alternative is marketing, not information. If you find something out of date, email hello@upform.com and we will correct the page.

Get started

Judge it by the product, not the page

Build a form, publish it, send it to ten people and read the drop-off funnel. That takes about five minutes and costs nothing.

No credit card. Unlimited forms and responses on the free plan.
