The short answer

Upform vs Typeform, in 60 words

Upform is a free Typeform alternative. Both build conversational forms, one question per screen. The difference is the free plan: Typeform caps you at 10 responses a month, while Upform's free plan gives you unlimited forms, unlimited responses, all 21 question types, conditional logic and every integration. Pro removes Upform branding and adds five team seats for $12 a month.

Upform vs Typeform, feature by feature

Most people searching for a Typeform alternative are not unhappy with the product. They are unhappy with what the free plan lets them do. Here is the whole picture.

Typeform plans and limits checked September 2026 on Typeform's public pricing page; Upform's on our own pricing page. Plans change, so verify both before you decide.

The three reasons

Why people look for Typeform alternatives

Typeform invented this format and it is still excellent at it. The searches are almost always about cost, not craft.

The 10-response cap

A contact form on a site with any traffic clears 10 responses in a day or two. Then answers stop reaching you, and you usually find out from the person who says they filled in your form and never heard back. That is the expensive way to learn where the ceiling is.

The step up is a big one

There is no small paid tier. The first one lands around $25 a month, which is a real line item when you are a freelancer running three forms, a nonprofit, or a founder counting every subscription. Typeform pricing explained walks through what each tier actually adds.

The good parts sit above the line

Logic jumps and file uploads are what turn a form into a working process. A job application that collects a CV, or a quote form that skips five questions when someone answers no, needs a paid plan. On Upform both are on the free one.

Being straight with you

What Typeform still does better

A comparison page that finds nothing good to say about the competitor is not worth reading. Four places where Typeform is genuinely ahead.

A much bigger template library

Typeform's gallery runs into the hundreds, sorted into dozens of categories, and most of them are well written. Upform's template gallery is smaller and growing every month. If you want a ready-made form for a niche use case today, Typeform is more likely to have one.

A deeper connector directory

Typeform has spent years building out partner integrations and an app marketplace. Upform ships nine native destinations (Sheets, Slack, Notion, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, monday.com, n8n and custom webhooks), which covers most stacks, but it is nine, not hundreds.

Name recognition

People know what a Typeform is. Send one to a client and nobody asks what the link is. A newer name carries less weight in that first second, and that is worth something on a cold outbound form.

A longer track record

Typeform has been shipping since 2012, with the enterprise controls, certifications and support tiers that come with that. Upform is newer and there are things it does not do: no custom domains, no payment fields, no scoring or quiz grading.

No downgrade

You keep the experience people actually like

The reason Typeform forms get finished is the format: one question at a time, fast keyboard input, nothing that looks like a government PDF. Upform's runtime does the same things, and the free plan does not hold any of them back.

  • One question per screen, with a smooth transition between steps
  • Enter to continue, Shift+Enter for a newline, 1–9 and A–Z to pick a choice, Y and N for yes-no
  • A branded loading overlay, so your font, logo and background are in place before question one paints
  • Full-width targets and a sticky back/next bar on mobile
  • Your logo, colors, Google font, corner radius and progress style (bar, dots or percentage)

Migration

How to move a Typeform to Upform in four steps

There is no one-click importer for Typeform. In practice that matters less than it sounds: the question types line up almost one to one, so a ten-question form is usually rebuilt in under twenty minutes.

  1. Export your existing responses

Before you switch anything off, download your Typeform responses as CSV. Your answer history is yours and it should not depend on a subscription staying active.

  2. Rebuild the questions

Start blank or clone a template, then paste your question text across and set the field types. Short text, long text, email, phone, rating, star rating, picture choice, file upload, statement and thank-you steps all have a direct equivalent among the 21 types.

  3. Recreate the logic and the look

Open the Logic panel and rebuild your rules with the 20 operators to show, hide, jump or end the form. Then set your logo, colors, font, radius and progress style in Design, and save it as a reusable theme so the next form starts branded.

  4. Swap the link and connect your tools

Publish, copy the public link or the embed snippet, and replace the old URL wherever it lives. Connect Google Sheets or Slack so new responses land where your team already looks.

Fit check

Who Upform is for, and who it is not

Two minutes here saves you an afternoon of rebuilding a form in the wrong tool.

Upform is a good swap if

  • Your form gets more than 10 responses a month and the cap is the reason you are here
  • You need conditional logic and do not want to pay a subscription for it
  • You collect CVs, briefs, images or documents and want uploads on a free plan
  • You are a freelancer, small team, student, nonprofit or side project with no software budget
  • You want answers in Sheets, Slack, Notion or HubSpot without paying for an automation tool in between
  • You care about where people drop off, not just how many finished

Look elsewhere if

  • You need the form to sit on your own domain today: Upform publishes on an upform.com link, or as an embed
  • You need to take card payments inside the form
  • You need scoring, quiz grading or calculated fields. Upform's logic routes, it does not compute
  • You need to self-host or audit the source: Upform is a hosted product, not open source
  • More than five people need their own seat on the account
  • You are only running one small internal survey and a Google Forms alternative would do

Frequently asked questions

Is there a completely free Typeform alternative?

Yes. Upform's free plan is permanent, not a trial, and it includes unlimited forms, unlimited responses, all 21 question types, conditional logic and every integration. You never hand over a card to use it. The only things held back for Pro are unlimited file storage, branding removal and team seats.

How many responses does Typeform's free plan allow?

Typeform's free plan is capped at 10 responses per month at the time of writing. Once you hit the cap, new answers stop reaching you until the cycle resets or you upgrade. Upform has no response cap on any plan, free included. Limits do change, so check Typeform's own pricing page before you decide.

Does Upform have conditional logic?

Yes, and it costs nothing. You build a flat list of rules, each one an AND or OR group of conditions, using 20 operators that cover text, numbers, dates, choices and file uploads. Four actions are available: show a question, hide it, jump to another step, or end the form. There is no scoring or calculation engine.

Can I import my Typeform?

Not in one click. Upform has a one-way import from Google Forms, but a Typeform is rebuilt by hand. Most take ten to twenty minutes because the question types map closely: copy the question text across, set the field types, then recreate your logic rules in the Logic panel.

Is Upform open source?

No. Upform is a hosted product, not an open-source project, so there is no repository to clone and nothing to self-host. If running the code on your own servers is a hard requirement, an open-source form builder will suit you better. What Upform gives you instead is a free plan with no response cap and no infrastructure to maintain.

Can I use my own domain?

Not yet. Published forms live on an upform.com link, and custom domains are not available today. Most people embed the form in a page on their own site instead, which keeps your domain in the address bar. The embed is an iframe snippet you paste into any site builder.

Does Upform remove its branding?

On the free plan your forms carry a small Upform mark. Pro removes it for $12 a month, so respondents see only your logo, colors and font. Everything else is identical on both plans: the same question types, the same logic, the same integrations.

How much is Pro?

Pro is $12 a month, a launch offer at half the $24 list price. It adds unlimited file storage, branding removal, up to five team members and early access to new features. Online checkout is not live yet, so you email hello@upform.com with the subject Upform Pro upgrade request, and we set the account up by hand, usually the same day.
