The verdict

Upform vs Typeform, in 60 words

Both build the same kind of form: one question per screen, keyboard-driven, styled to your brand. Typeform has the bigger template library, the deeper integration marketplace and a track record going back to 2012. Upform has no response cap on its free plan, conditional logic at $0, and a Pro tier at $12 a month. That is the trade.

Being straight with you

Where Typeform wins

Typeform invented this format and has spent over a decade refining it. Five places where the gap is real and not closing this quarter.

A far larger template library

Typeform's gallery runs into the hundreds across dozens of categories, and the copy inside them is well written. Upform's template gallery is smaller and growing monthly. If you want a ready-made form for a narrow use case today, Typeform is more likely to have one sitting there.

A mature integration marketplace

Years of partner work means a directory measured in hundreds, including the long tail of CRMs and niche tools nobody builds for twice. Upform ships nine native destinations (Sheets, Slack, Notion, HubSpot, Mailchimp, Klaviyo, monday.com, n8n and custom webhooks). That covers most stacks. It is still nine.

Name recognition

"I'll send you a Typeform" is a sentence people understand. On a cold outbound form, or a link you drop into a client's inbox, that recognition buys you a second of trust that a newer name has to earn. It is soft, and it is worth something.

A longer track record and a bigger support organization

Typeform has been shipping since 2012, with the compliance paperwork, certifications, uptime history and tiered support that come with that age. Upform answers support from a small team by email. If your procurement process asks for a security questionnaire, an SLA and a named account contact, that is a real difference and it favors them.

Features Upform has simply not built

No scoring, no calculated fields, no quiz grading. Upform's logic routes people, it does not compute values. No card payments inside a form. No custom domain, so a published form lives on an upform.com link unless you embed it. Each of those is a genuine reason to stay put.

The other side

Where Upform wins

Almost all of it comes down to one decision we made early: nothing that changes whether your form works gets held behind a paywall.

  • Unlimited responses on the free plan. No monthly cap, no throttle, no email telling you answers were dropped while you were asleep.
  • Conditional logic at $0. Twenty operators and four actions (show, hide, jump, end the form) on the plan that costs nothing.
  • Pro at $12 a month. Half the list price as a launch offer, and roughly half what a first paid Typeform tier costs.
  • Per-question drop-off, free. Not just a completion rate: the exact step where people quit, color-coded by severity, next to desktop and mobile split.
  • One-click template cloning. Preview any template live, then copy it onto your account as an editable form without rebuilding it question by question.

Fit check

Which one should you pick?

Work down the list and stop at the first one that describes you. Three of the five send you to Typeform.

  1. You need scoring, calculated fields or card payments → Typeform

Quiz grades, lead scores, a price that adds up as people answer, or taking money inside the form. Upform does none of these and there is no workaround worth the effort. Stop here.

  2. The form must sit on your own domain → Typeform

Upform publishes on an upform.com link. You can embed that in a page on your own site, which keeps your domain in the address bar and is enough for most people. If a bare custom URL is a hard requirement, it is not enough for you.

  3. You need a niche template ready today, or a specific app connector → Typeform

Hundreds of templates and a marketplace built over a decade beat nine destinations and a growing gallery. Check our integration list first. If your tool is on it, this point does not apply to you.

  4. You expect more than 10 responses a month and would rather not pay → Upform

This is the most common reason people are on this page at all. A contact form on a site with any traffic clears ten responses in a couple of days, and past that Typeform wants roughly $25 a month. Upform's free plan has no cap.

  5. You need logic, uploads and drop-off analytics on a budget of zero → Upform

A job application that collects a CV, or a quote form that skips five questions when someone answers no, is a paid feature on Typeform and a free one here. If the form is the process, that gap decides it.

Still torn? Build the same form in both this afternoon. Neither account costs anything to open, and twenty minutes of actually using the two builders will settle it faster than any comparison table, including this one. If you want the long-form case for switching, it is on our Typeform alternative page.

Migration

Moving a Typeform across takes an evening, not a sprint

There is no one-click Typeform importer. Upform's only import is a one-way one from Google Forms. In practice the question types map almost one to one, so a ten-question form is usually rebuilt in fifteen to twenty minutes.

1. Export before you cancel

Download your Typeform responses as CSV while the subscription is still live. Your answer history should never depend on a card staying valid. Upform exports the same way, from the Responses table.

2. Rebuild the questions

Clone a template or start blank, paste your question text across and set the field types. Short text, long text, email, phone, rating, star rating, picture choice, file upload and statement steps all have a direct equivalent in the builder.

3. Rewire logic, then swap the link

Rebuild your rules in the Logic panel, set your logo, colors, font and progress style in Design, then publish and replace the old URL. Point Google Sheets or Slack at the new form before you announce it.

Frequently asked questions

Is Upform a real alternative to Typeform?

For most conversational form use cases, yes. Both show one question per screen, both support full keyboard input, and both let you set your logo, colors, font and background. Where the two split is the plan: Typeform's free tier caps responses, and Upform's does not. Where Typeform is still ahead is breadth: a much larger template gallery, a far bigger app marketplace, and features Upform has not built.

What does Typeform do that Upform cannot?

Four things matter most. Typeform has scoring and calculated fields for quizzes and qualification scores, card payment fields inside the form, custom domains so the form sits on your URL, and an app marketplace in the hundreds against Upform's nine native destinations. If any of those is a hard requirement, Typeform is the better tool and this page is not going to argue otherwise.

How many responses can I collect on each free plan?

Typeform's free plan is widely documented at 10 responses per month, after which new answers stop reaching you until the cycle resets or you upgrade. Upform's free plan has no response cap and no form cap at all. Limits move, so check Typeform's own pricing page and our pricing page before you commit either way.

Can I import a Typeform into Upform?

Not in one click. Upform has a one-way import from Google Forms only, so a Typeform has to be rebuilt by hand. In practice a ten-question form takes fifteen to twenty minutes because the field types line up closely: short text, long text, email, phone, rating, star rating, picture choice, file upload and statement steps all have a direct equivalent.

Why is Upform Pro $12 when Typeform's first paid tier is around $25?

Upform is a newer product with a narrower feature surface and a much smaller company behind it, and $12 is a launch price at half the $24 list price. You are trading marketplace breadth and a long enterprise track record for a lower bill and an uncapped free plan. That trade is good for a freelancer or small team and bad for a large organization with procurement requirements.

Is the Upform free plan a trial?

No. It is permanent, there is no expiry date and no card is collected. Pro adds unlimited file storage, branding removal, up to five team members and early access to new features. Online checkout is not live yet, so you email hello@upform.com with the subject Upform Pro upgrade request, and we set the account up by hand, usually the same day.
